6 Activities to Entertain You During Quarantine

It’s inevitable, we’ve all heard about the disease going around and are now practicing social distancing. Instead of spending more time staring at a screen than you probably already do, I’ve come up with some alternatives you’ll enjoy just as much binge watching Netflix.

  1. Read a Book

Now is the perfect time to pick up that book you’ve had on your shelf for quite some time. (If you don’t like reading, I suggest looking into an audible subscription.) Diving into a good book is a great way to pass the time while improving your memory, vocabulary, and concentration. Looking for suggestions? I’ve got you covered.

  2. Adult Coloring Books

Known for relieving stress and anxiety, adult coloring books are another way you can occupy your time to help get your mind off what’s going on in the world. They are usually inexpensive and allow you to channel your inner elementary school self by using your imagination to fill their intricate designs. It’s basically an adult version of Lisa Frank and I’m so here for it.

  3. At-Home Spa Day

The salon might be closed, but that doesn’t mean you have to go two weeks without treating yourself. Break out the Bath & Body Works bubble bath you’ve been hoarding and grab your collection of nail polish and give yourself a much needed pick-me-up. It’s a stressful time and there’s really no finer way to make yourself feel better than a little TLC.

  4. Phone a Friend

Now that you have nothing but time on your hands and you’re forced to slow down, take a moment to call up a good friend or family member you haven’t talked to in a while. Not only will it be a pleasant surprise for them, but it’ll keep you both entertained. If you aren’t sure who to call, I’m sure your mom or grandma would love to hear from you.

  5. Work Out

I don’t care how old you are or how inactive your lifestyle might be, at some point you’re going to need to let out some energy. I’m not saying you need to go crazy and go for a five mile run (props to you if you have the ability to do so), but going for a walk around the block, following a Pinterest exercise routine, or doing at-home yoga won’t hurt. It’ll probably make you feel a lot better and avoid becoming restless. You can only nap so many times throughout the day!

  6. Spring Cleaning

I know, how rude of me to suggest cleaning as a “fun” activity, but hear me out. Instead of setting aside time to clean and organize your home while you could be out with your friends, use this dedicated quarantine as a time to get shit done. Do you really want to spend the next two weeks cooped up in a messy house anyway? I didn’t think so.

It’s a stressful time right now, but eventually it will all blow over and everything will be back to normal. Instead of looking at this as a crisis, try seeing it as a time to really dig deep and do things you truly enjoy. Pick up old hobbies (or take on new ones) and form stronger bonds with the people you live with even if that means giving your furry friend extra attention. I hope everyone stays safe out there!

Positive vibes always,

M + M
