This four-ingredient snack is so easy to make you don’t even need to turn on your oven.

I’ve been making these bars religiously for years and they’re always a hit when I bring them to friend and family gatherings. I make a batch each week to eat with my morning coffee and it always leaves me feeling full and energized. One batch is packed with protein and natural sugars, and usually makes about 12 bars depending on how big you cut them. I’ve stopped buying granola bars at the grocery store and started making these instead. I like knowing exactly what’s going into my food and that I can use natural ingredients from my local farmers’ market.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Natural Peanut Butter (make sure it’s no stir)

  • 1/2 Cup Honey

  • 3 Cups Whole Grain Oats

  • 1/2 Bag of Dark Chocolate Chips

I like to keep things simple with four ingredients, but you can add other things like nuts or dried fruit too. As long as you have the first three ingredients your bars should turn out!

Instructions:

  • Place peanut butter and honey in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for about 45 seconds or until melted

  • Stir until it’s a smooth consistency

  • Add one cup of oats to a large mixing bowl along with the peanut butter/honey mixture

  • Stir and gradually add in the remaining two cups of oats

  • Add 1/4 of a bag of chocolate chips or any other ingredients and combine

    • The chocolate chips will melt and create a chocolate swirl look

  • Next line a 9x9 baking pan with parchment or wax paper

  • Evenly distribute the mixture across the pan (about 1-inch thick) and even it out with a soon or spatula

  • Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top and press them into the mixture

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours

  • Cut into squares and enjoy!
